These men live in Caria, 60 stades away from Halicarnassus, according to Polemon.[1] But Telmissos[2] [is] a city in Lycia, [named] after Telmissos the son of Apollo and one of the daughters of Antenor [Author, Myth], with whom [Apollo] mated after changing [her] into a puppy, and hence made him a soothsayer; so [says] Dionysios in Foundations.[3]

Τελμισσεῖς: οὗτοι οἰκοῦσιν ἐν Καρίᾳ, ἀπέχοντες ξ# στάδια Ἁλικαρνασσοῦ, ὡς Πολέμων. Τελμισσὸς δὲ πόλις ἐν Λυκίᾳ, ἀπὸ Τελμισσοῦ τοῦ Ἀπόλλωνος καὶ μιᾶς τῶν Ἀντήνορος θυγατέρων, ᾗ ἐμίγη εἰς σκύλακα μεταβαλών, διὸ καὶ τερατοσκόπον αὐτὸν ἐποίησεν: ὡς Διονύσιος ἐν Κτίσεσι.
