Ταναγραῖοι ἀλεκτορίσκοι: οἱ μαχηταὶ καὶ θυμικοί, ὡς ἄνθρωποι. Βάβριος: ἀλεκτορίσκων ἦν μάχη Ταναγραίων, οἷς φασιν εἶναι θυμὸν ὥσπερ ἀνθρώποις. καὶ παροιμία: ἀλεκτρυόνα καὶ ἀθλητὴν Ταναγραῖον. ᾄδονται δὲ εὐγενεῖς οὗτοι. καὶ ζήτει ἐν τῷ ἀλεκτρυόνα τὸ λεῖπον.
