Aristophanes, "neither with utter ruin nor without utter ruin." This is said in a proverb: "women [are an] evil; but nevertheless, O demesman, it is not possible for a household to dwell without evil."[2]
Τοὖπος: τὸ ἔπος. κἄστ' ἐκεῖνο τοὖπος ὀρθῶς, κοὐ κακῶς εἰρημένον, παρ' Ἀριστοφάνει: οὔτε σὺν πανωλέθροισιν, οὐδ' ἄνευ πανωλέθρων. ἐν παροιμίᾳ τοῦτο λέγεται: κακὸν γυναῖκες: ἀλλ' ὅμως, ὦ δημότα, οὐκ ἔστιν οἰκεῖν οἰκίαν ἄνευ κακοῦ.
