Θερμοπύλαι: ἔνιοι μὲν τὴν πόλιν ταύτην Πύλας καλοῦσι. Φιλαίας δὲ Θερμοπύλας λέγει καλεῖσθαι, ἐπεὶ ἐκεῖ ἡ Ἀθηνᾶ θερμὰ λουτρὰ Ἡρακλεῖ ἐποίησεν.

In the Greek the distinction is between Gates and Hot Gates.
