Α root. [So called] from its position [θέσις ] in the ground. But Homer says [that it means] the proliferating parts of leaves. “As he lay beneath a leafy bush”.[1]
Josephus [uses it] in the masculine: “at which [mountain, i.e. Mount Sinai], as we have before related, the vision of the bush, and the other wonderful appearances, had happened”.[2]
