Translation: Also [sc. attested is] a proverb: "if you were pouring in Thasian." [It arose] because Staphylos, the beloved of
Dionysos, lived in
Thasos. Thasian wine is exceptional. "You were pouring in" stands for "you were mixing."[1]
Θάσιος οἶνος. καὶ παροιμία: εἰ Θάσιον ἐνέχεις. ἐπειδὴ ἐν Θάσῳ ᾤκει Στάφυλος ὁ ἐρώμενος Διονύσου. διαφέρει δὲ ὁ Θάσιος οἶνος. ἐνέχεις δὲ ἀντὶ τοῦ ἐκίρνας.
