The headword, variously spelled as either θεατροκρασία or θεατροκορασία by the lexicographers, is presumably a version of Plato's coinage θεατροκρατία (Plato, Laws 701A: web address 1), noted by Pollux 4.121): in the "democratic" Athens of his day, he laments, audiences think they can judge what is good in music -- and, by extension, politics.
