Greek Original:Ξενοφάνης ἐν ἐλεγείᾳ περὶ τοῦ ἄλλοτε ἄλλον αὐτὸν γεγενῆσθαι: καί ποτέ μιν στυφελιζομένου σκύλακος παριόντα φασί γ' ἐποικτεῖραι καὶ τόδε φάσθαι ἔπος: παῦσαι, μηδὲ ῥάπιζ', ἐπειὴ φίλου ἀνέρος ἐστὶ ψυχή, τὴν ἔγνων φθεγξαμένην ἀί̈ων. ἔσκωψε δ' αὐτὸν καὶ Κρατῖνος ἐν Πυθαγοριζούσῃ. καὶ ἐν Ταραντίνοις: ἔθος ἐστὶν αὐτοῖς, ἐὰν ἰδιώτην ποθὲν λάβωσιν εἰσελθόντα, διαπειρώμενον τῆς τῶν λόγων ῥώμης ταράττειν καὶ κυκᾶν τοῖς ἀντιθέτοις, τοῖς πέρασι, τοῖς παρισώμασι, τοῖς ἀποπλάνοις, τοῖς μεγέθεσι νουβυστικῶς.
