Ζείδωρον: τὴν τὰ πρὸς τὸ ζῆν δωρουμένην. ἔστι καὶ ἡ γῆ. καλεῖται δὲ καὶ βιοδώρα καὶ φερέσβιος.
Note:
Cf. scholion on Homer, Iliad 2.548, and see beta 290. The scholiast derives ζείδωρος from ζῆν "to live"; more probably it comes from ζειά (zeta 43).
